Our goal is to have their first experience in school to be filled with the Joy of Learning. We do this through many hands on activities that create a strong foundation for learning. Play is so important in the early years. Students learn better when they are literally touching, seeing, and feeling. We, as teachers, take the time to watch and listen to our students to see what their interests are. Then we base studies off of it. We embed literacy, math, and science in each of the studies so that our students are able to move at their own pace. We give them many opportunities for investigation and exploration. It is amazing to see how they thrive in this environment!

So what is Kentucky All STARS?

Kentucky All STARS is Kentucky’s expanded five-star quality rating and improvement system for early care and education programs. Studies show that children who attend high quality early learning environments have better math, language and social skills. The unified system serves all early care and education programs that receive public funding including child care centers, Head Start and public preschool. Kentucky All STARS is based on Kentucky’s Early Childhood Standards and research-based indicators of quality. It recognizes programs that have made a commitment to continuous quality improvement. On the path toward higher quality, programs can benefit from supports including training, technical assistance and coaching.

It is truly hard to put into words all the ways I feel blessed by the preschool program at Sts. Peter and Paul. From a professional stand point, I have had exposure to many preschools in the Northern Kentucky area. So when it came to choosing a preschool for my own children, I had high expectations. Ms. Lorrie and Ms. Joann truly exceeded my expectations daily. SPP Preschool provides the perfect environment for hands on learning and child directed play. This is truly where a love of learning of begins. As a mom, I think one of the hardest things to do is trust another individual to care for your child. Ms. Lorrie, Ms. Joann, and the entire staff at SPPS have provided my children with a place to feel truly safe and loved.
